2011 - My second year of blogging in Brittany

I felt I would like to share some of the photographs I have taken so far this year and some from other years. I live in a beautiful part of Brittany and just love being here. It's a lovely place to photograph and enjoy being in through all the seasons and hopefully this blog will show you where I live my life.

Saturday, 30 January 2010 - Lichens and Mosses

I brought a lichen covered bench from Cornwall where it had been overlooking the sea high on the top of the cliff where the air was pure. It has been here for about four years now. I don't think it's lost any lichen due to the atmosphere here, just to the animals and people who try to sit on it.

I also brought a staddlestone which arrived here from Gloucestershire via Cornwall and used to belong to my mother. I put earth in the dips in the stone surface and planted sempervivum which seems to flourish in it's new home.

Friday, 29 January 2010 - Snow in the village

Earlier this month we had 40+ centimetres of snow in the village. This is very unusual for Brittany and we were unable to leave the village for ten days. During this enforced seige I decided to take photographs of the beautiful white landscape.

Luckily the freezers were full and being a hoarder I always have plenty of storecupboard food, so I was never going to starve.

These huge icicles on a neighbour's house are up to 45cm long.

This was ice on my window, the patterns and light changing
all the time as it melted and slipped.
